Bring your art in for the Hanbury Hall 2018 exhibition

Hanbury Hall, the National Trust property near Droitwich Spa, opens its Long Gallery doors for another Droitwich Arts Network exhibition. With a success of previous years, this is the most popular exhibition in the year and both artists and visitors. It seems to be the pinnacle of DAN’s artistic year.

Diana Curley at Hanbury Hall

Diana Curley is one of the newest DAN members, but she has been creative and artistic all her life, even though professionally life took her in a different direction.  After retiring she decided to go back to her first love, the art, and she dedicated 9 years to studying for her BA(Hons) Painting Degree at the Open University of the Creative Arts.

The exhibition at the Long Gallery is Diana’s degree show and it sums up her interest in both paintings and sculpture, that are delicately interwoven and live together in a very natural way. An important element of Diana’s work is a movement. It is present in her colourful sculptures in an automatic or manual mechanical way, or spontaneous movements with the flow of air. The movement is present even in 2D paintings through the cleverly cut shapes that seem to move around the surface.

Hanbury Hall closing celebration

Hanbury Hall exhibition was closed on Monday 30th October with a small celebration, that includes trophy exchanging, poetry reading and food. The general feeling is, and the numbers proved it, that this year’s exhibition is the best so far. The quality of artworks, number of visitors (3358!) and their positive feedback, as well as enthusiasm of all stewards during the three weeks of the exhibition, was the best ever. The spirit of Droitwich Arts Network was clearly visible at all points and the success was a natural result.
