Photo Walk: Quirky Droitwich!

Photo walk 1Join the DAN PIGs (Photography Interest Group) for a Photo Walk on Thursday 13th August. Meet at the top of the High Street where it meets the Worcester Road (Queen Street) at 7.15pm.

The route is flexible but will be: along the High Street, pop into Gurneys Lane, pop into Tower Hill, past St Andrews Church, and along Friar Street. Lots of old quirky buildings.

We can finish up at the Old Cock or the Gardeners Arms. Anyone can join in. You don’t have to be a paid up member of DAN. Any camera will do. It’s just for fun. Guidance will be available from experienced photographers.

Please add a comment if you would like to come along.

Contemporary embroidery by Tamara Jelaca

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAFrom 4th August till 1st September The Button Tree café features contemporary embroideries by Tamara Jelaca.  The café’s visitors have a chance to see eight works that Tamara choose to show as a review of her work from 2008 until 2011.

Tamara’s embroideries are textile illustrations of her thoughts, feelings and daily life. Tamara says, “I always look for an inspiration around me. It can be a song, a book, a person or particular situation, even TV programme or newspaper article. I am also very introspective person and, therefore, a great source for the inspiration.”

All works are made in techniques of free hand embroidery, acrylic and textile painting, and tea-dying.

Children’s Art Workshop on Charter Day

One of the Droitwich Arts Network favourite activity is children’s art workshop and competition. During the Charter Day festival DAN have organised a very busy painting competition for kids. They have had a chance to paint their works on the special paper sheets with King John’s seal on it. All paints, brushes, colour pastels and protective aprons were provided by DAN, as well as inspirational art by world’s famous painters.
