DAN network news

A new year started with DAN social evening

On Saturday 21 January, DAN members are gathered together at Park’s Café to start the new year in a good spirit. It was a great opportunity to meet DAN members, to check what is new and upcoming.

Malcolm Wakeman, DAN chairman, gives a welcome speech.

The evening started with a really good food. Paul from Park’s Cafe prepared the 3-course meal with dishes and wine originated in Greece, Mexico, and Germany. In a relaxed atmosphere, chairman Malcolm Wakeman gave a speech on Droitwich Arts Network activities that will take place in 2017. He pointed out the great importance of ArtsFest 2017, the first festival in Droitwich Spa that would exclusively be dedicated to arts (visual arts, crafts, poetry, music, and theatre) and will spread over three weeks.

January exhibitions

In January few DAN members will show their artworks to the public. Droitwich library are displaying two artworks per month and in January you have a chance to see Chris Walker’s subtle watercolour (7 – 21 January) and one of Peter Hawkins’ realistic acrylic paintings (21 January – 4 February).

The Park’s Café is hosting Karen Barlow’s exhibition for the whole month. Karen likes to experiment with different mediums, combining acrylic painting with found objects, textiles, beads, seeds, tissue papers and similar materials to create vibrant textures in her paintings.

2017 monthly meeting dates

For 2017 DAN planning committee agreed on the meeting dates for the whole year. That would help DAN members to plan in advance. We will share the calendar several times in the year as a remainder. The next upcoming meeting date, as always, will be announced on the website homepage. All members are welcome to take an active part in making decisions about DAN activities. Monthly meetings are a perfect opportunity to show your work, share your thoughts, meet creative people and receive an information about DAN activities. See you all in 2017!
