Helen Karakashian elected Chair of Droitwich Arts Network

Droitwich Arts Network is proud to announce the election of Helen Karakashian as its new Chair. Helen takes over from Peter Hawkins who held the position of Chair for a number of years.

Upon her election, New Chair Helen said: “Peter Hawkins worked tirelessly for Droitwich Arts Network. I intend to build on this strong foundation and reach out to all the local clubs and societies covering a wide spectrum of the arts, and encourage increased interaction.”

With her committee, Helen is working on a diary of events for the year ahead which includes demonstrations and involvement in textiles, pottery, painting, wood carving, knitting, writing and quilting among many other arts and crafts. There will be visits to art galleries, theatres and other places of interest such as the Jewellery Quarter and the Kidderminster Museum of Carpet where there will be opportunities to take photographs and to paint ‘en plein air’. These visits will be intermingled with social events and fundraising activities as well as involving the local schools and community in a variety of projects.

Fundraising Fashion Show

Droitwich ‘M & Co’ clothing shop will host fundraising fashion show on Wednesday, 14th March 2018, with an aim to raise funds for Droitwich Arts Network.  This fun and memorable event has happened for the first time in 2016 and helped DAN raise a significant amount of money that was wisely used in funding some of the biggest events in the last year, such as ArtsFest and Hanbury Hall exhibition.

Helen Karakashian, DAN chair, announced that 110 tickets will be printed and ready for distribution in a couple of weeks. Tickets will be on sale in ‘M & Co’ (St Andrews Shopping Centre, Droitwich) and Park’s Café (4 Victoria Square, Droitwich) for the price £5.

Soft drinks and light bites will be available, as well as the raffle. Please bring some raffle prizes with you on the evening.
