A new exhibiting venue for DAN members

A new exhibiting venue – The Button Tree Café

There is space for about 5 pieces (no larger than A3). The changeover is after 3pm to avoid busy times. The exhibition will be changed on a monthly basis, for more info contact Rosie Philpott at [email protected]

This offer is open to paid-up individual members of DAN. Members of groups can only exhibit as a group (not individually).
Currently, Peter Hawkins is displaying in the café and I have attached some photos for you to see. Why not go and visit the café and have a better look? The Button Tree Café is located on 1 Tagwell Rd, Droitwich WR9 7BW

Exhibitions in June

©Nigel Reader

Droitwich Arts Network exhibitions in June are very interesting in their diversity. Droitwich Library hosted a picture by John Bodley (read more) and local photographer Nigel Reader, a member of Droitwich Camera Club for 10 years. He has displayed his black & white photograph taken on an iPhone, which is a proof that in photography is much more important to have an idea, a good eye, and a sense for the ‘right moment’ than a costly camera (not that Nigel doesn’t use professional equipment too). The Button Tree Cafe on High Street is the home for another exhibition. Local artist Sue Harley have chosen 8 of her pictures, with subjects of animals and nature, to show at her exhibition. There are minimalistic drawings of cats and gentle portraits of animals, such as elephant, lion and hare.

March exhibitions by DAN members

A popular local restaurant, the Park’s Café (4 Victoria Square), is hosting an exhibition of watercolours by Chris Walker. Chris is an amateur artist who took up painting when she retired. She is very skilled watercolourist, but she uses a range of media including graphite, coloured pencils and pastel. The watercolours at this exhibition show wide range of subjects – animals and plants, birds, landscapes and architectural landmarks. Her exhibition is on until the end of March.

January exhibitions

In January few DAN members will show their artworks to the public. Droitwich library are displaying two artworks per month and in January you have a chance to see Chris Walker’s subtle watercolour (7 – 21 January) and one of Peter Hawkins’ realistic acrylic paintings (21 January – 4 February).

The Park’s Café is hosting Karen Barlow’s exhibition for the whole month. Karen likes to experiment with different mediums, combining acrylic painting with found objects, textiles, beads, seeds, tissue papers and similar materials to create vibrant textures in her paintings.
