ArtsFest 2017 – A literature weekend

The second weekend of Droitwich ArtsFest was all dedicated to poetry and words. On 22 July, the day started with the poetry reading at 11am on the St Andrew’s Square.  ‘Pens and Needles’ writers’ group from Redditch performed in front of the Meetbox.

The Poetry Extravaganza, with its 5th year at Park’s Café,  is a well-established event in Droitwich. On the evening of 22 July, Park’s Café was buzzing with poets and writers (Fergus Mc Gonigal, Nina Lewis, Maggie Doyle, Polly Stretton, Mike Alma, Amanda Bonnick, Sarah Leavesley, Jenna Plewes, Ruth Stacey, Leena Batchelor and Helen Calcutt) and the keen audience really enjoyed the evening. The literature event coordinator was Nina Lewis, Worcestershire Poet Laureate.

ArtsFest 2017 – music and entertainment

ArtsFest 2017 started suddenly on Saturday, 15th July, with a song. Many have been surprised when ‘Voices Unlimited’, a singing group from Worcester, has started their programme in St Andrew’s Square. After the energetic start, town crier opened the event and audience had a chance to hear brief speeches from Mayor of Droitwich Coun Shaun Best and Nigel Huddleston MP.

After a great start with ‘Voices Unlimited’, the music show continued with the performance of ‘Sing and Tonic’ choir from Droitwich.

LONG LIVE THE ART!
CALL FOR MAIL ART ARTIST TO CELEBRATE THE ART.

The ART has changed its styles, significance and meaning so many times throughout the history, but it has always been a constant part of humanity and the lives of people. Everybody enjoys the ART – commons and royals, children and adults, blue collars and white collars – the art should not know any borders, limits or restrictions. The ART is capable to fit into any shape and form, to fulfil any expectation, to adapt to be understandable to all and to be enigmatic and mysterious. The ART has a duty to enhance the reality, to see the beauty, to recognise diversity, to provoke our thoughts, to call for a rebellion, to punch and shake us.
