ArtsFest 2018 launch on Saturday 30th June

After almost a full year of planning and preparations, Droitwich ArtsFest 2018 will be officially opened on Saturday 30 June in the town centre. At 12.00pm at St. Andrew’s Square Town Crier will announce the festival, and short speeches by the Mayor of Droitwich and Nigel Huddleston MP will follow. 

The theme of the opening day is Dance and a centre of the town will be a stage for Belly Dance, Salsa and Zumba. All events will be led by top instructors and public will be invited to join in. 

Droitwich Rock Choir will perform at Droitwich High School in the evening, starting at 19.30pm.

12.30 – Belly Dancing with Tahira
13.15 – Salsa Dancing with John-James
14.30 – Zumba with Eliana Keen

All events at St. Andrew’s Square are free, so come along and enjoy an afternoon filled with music and dance. 

 

Droitwich ArtsFest Launches on Saturday 30 June

Droitwich Arts Network (DAN) has announced an exciting programme for this year’s Droitwich Arts Festival.  Lasting 4 weeks and 5 Saturdays, ArtsFest offers a wide variety of free events, many in the open air, encouraging the general public to experience a range of arts related activities.

The festival starts on Saturday the 30th June at 12 noon in St Andrews Square, Droitwich, with announcements by the Droitwich Town Crier accompanied by fanfares from a brass quartet, The Deputy Mayor of Droitwich and Nigel Huddleston MP. The afternoon will be filled with Dance – Belly Dancing, Salsa, and Zumba. The public will be encouraged to join in, but can just watch if they prefer.

People’s Gallery

On Saturday 7th July, the public will be able to create a “People’s Gallery” near the High Street during the day. In the evening, a festival highlight will be a free music event in St Andrews Square with two bands and cash bar. Gates open at 6.30pm.

The ArtsFest 2018 is packed with events in a 4-week programme full of visual arts, music and dance, poetry and literature and various hands-on activities. Be sure to check the programme and put the events on your calendar. Although most of the events are free, some events will be charged at very affordable prices.

Shop at Tesco and help raise £4,000 for ArtsFest 2018

Droitwich ArtsFest has been selected by Tesco to be part of its “Bags of Help” Scheme during March and April.

Please make as many small purchases as you can from your local Tesco store, obtain a token, and vote for Droitwich ArtsFest. You do not need to buy a bag. We will be up against two other organisations. The winner will receive a grant of £4,000.

Spending a lot of money at once provides one token. Spending a small amount of money provides one token. Therefore you can increase our chances of success by making many visits to buy small items. Our nearest store is Tesco Express in Mulberry Tree Hill, off Primsland Way, Droitwich WR9 7SS.

Although most ArtsFest events are free to attend it costs a significant amount of money to deliver the festival. Last year it cost about £5,000 to deliver 3 weeks and 4 weekends of events. ArtsFest 2018 starts on Saturday 30 June and will last 4 weeks and 5 weekends, ending on Saturday 28 July. The current cost estimate is over £7,000. That is why we need your help!
